NPP deliberately denying Asawase Constituency development is unfortunate – Muntaka laments

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase Constituency of the Ashanti Region is lamenting over lack of developmental projects in the Constituency on the part of the Government.

The MP Alhaji Muntaka Muhammed who doubles as the Minority Chief whip in Parliament stated that, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is deliberately denying Asawase constituency of developmental infrastructure for being an orphan constituency in the Ashanti.

Hon. Muntaka was speaking at a meeting with the Christian caucus in the constituency to enable both Muslims and Christian communities to tighten cordial relationship to make the upcoming general elections a mere formality through unity.

The Asawase constituency is known to be Muslims dominated area among the forty -six (46) constituencies in the Ashanti region which is being taken by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) since its creation.

The minority chief whip at the meeting emphatically disclosed that, since 2017 the governing NPP came to power, the government decided to put all ongoing developmental projects which includes roads, schools on hold just because the constituency was occupied by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He stressed that, unlike the NDC which spread developmental infrastructure across the length and breadth of the country, the NPP is discriminatory in terms of development.

He stated that, the most unfortunate aspect of the development is that, even areas in the constituency known to be the NPP strongholds are also affected, he reminded the governing NPP that, not every resident or electorate in Asawase voted for the opposition NDC, hence it’s long overdue for the NPP government to revise the notes to ensure that, as government it’s their duty to equally share the national cake to the benefit of every Ghanaian but not on partisan lines for the sake of a unity and coexistence amongst the citizenry.

The MP also called on the NDC faithful, supporters and sympathizers to remain united for a common goal and purpose that is to ensure that the opposition NDC recapture political power come 2024 general elections.

According to him, it’s a time members of the opposition party forgive one another and live as brothers and sisters, and respect authorities and leadership and abide by the party’s lay down structures devoid of division among members with good heart, which he said would be the only surest bet for victory come 2024.

The Christian caucus at the event presented a citation to the minority chief whip and MP for Asawase for his dedication, commitment and good human relationship especially with the constituents and being a developmental oriented legislature.
