Stop attacking us, we’re not criminals – Fulani Chief warns
The Fulani Association Of Ghana, Eastern Regional Chapter led by Chief Iddrisa Sambo has condemned the continuous stereotype and attacks on Fulani’s in the region.
The Chief alleged that Fulani’s were beaten and attacked without recourse to humanity.
Chief Iddrisa Sambo while reacting to massacre of innocent Fulanis attacked by residents of Maame Krobo in the Kwahu Afram Plains said, these were not isolated incidence, but examples of years of sustained pattern of elimination, and ethics cleansing of Fulanis from the region.
“It is our conviction that herders are mostly peaceful , self – respecting Ghanaians that contribute more than a quarter of the country’s GDP that derive from agriculture, a sector sustained, maintained and financed by the livestock sector, which is largely dependant on the herding communities in the region, he said.
Although we the Fulanis have been living in Ghana for generations and still we are not accepted among communities why? Are we not also human beings? Chief sambo asked.
We are calling on the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the second Lady of the Republic of Ghana Mrs Samira Bawumia and the Newly nominated minister for agriculture Brian Acheampong to urgently come to our aid of the victims. This is in view of the fact that our cattle and only source of livelihood were rustled by some marauding criminals.
