Nana Osei(caretaker Chief) is the alleged legitimate person to swear the great Oath (Ntamkese3) as the custodian of the Kantinkyiren community.

According to the residents in an interview with the media today, the alleged coup plot began after the caretaker Chief Nana Osei Yaw went to the palace in preparation to his swearing in ceremony.

The Otumfour Akomfrehene together with a heavy security, are said to have hijacked the Palace trying to destroy the palace gate to get access into it.

Residents say their town has been taken over by armed Police personnel and some plain cloth security men.

“When they came, they were holding some guns knocking the palace gates and windows indiscriminately. We are all afraid. Our children, our wives are all afraid to go out. All the elders in the community have ran away.

Now we don’t know their whereabouts since yesterday”, a residents narrated.

According to the residents, the caretaker Chief Nana Osei Yaw’s life is in danger in the community and he no longer feels safe in his own town.

“This community is no longer safe because of the weapons being paraded in the town. But I must emphasize that Nana Owusu Abayie, Otumfour Akomfrehene can’t change Asantehene’s decision. What he is doing is illegal and goes against the customs of our land”, some residents added.

They have therefore appealed to the ASANTEHENE Otumfour Osei Tutu II to intervene by swearing Nana Osei Yaw as the legitimate chief of Kantinkyiren.
