Bagbin Next Move After Minority Leaders Sacked
Bagbin Next Move After Minority Leaders Sacked
After a press conference by the new minority leaders today, 48 hours after their appointment, it appears reversing their appointment in favor of the old leaders will be a myth. The speaker of Parliament, who is a former presidential aspirant in the opposition NDC party, Alhaji Bagbin, will surely have his next moves calculated.
Lawyer Haruna Idrisu, the minority leader and his deputy, together with other key leaders of the National Democratic Congress in parliament were changed for reasons that are currently being debated.
Some of the rumoured fears of the party that led to the change of the last leaders were the presidential ambition of Haruna Idrisu and the fact that he was becoming too powerful. Though the same arguments do not apply to the other fired leaders, the alleged fear also is the fact that they were aligned.
Speakers Bagbin equally had a presidential ambition in the past and actually contested the H.E John Dramani Mahama in their last presidential candidate elections. The question now is whether speaker Bagbin will also bring his head out to be dealt with in political machinations or will he rather protect his peak of being a one-time speaker of Ghana’s parliament and possibly retain the position if the party wins the 2024 elections.
The team at educativenewsroom.com believes speaker Bagbin will opt for the second option of remaining loyal to the status quo to protect his legacy and even have the chance to retain his speakership position if his party wins the next election. Taking this position would definitely be a better choice and erase his past failure as a one-time member of the “three wisemen”
