MALAMULELE POLICE ROBBED BY ARMED SUSPECTS

However, it is not the first time that SAPS has been targeted in their own backyard. On 21 November last year, heavily armed suspects ransacked the Malamulele police station in Limpopo.

They stormed the police station at around 23:00 and held officers at gunpoint. Within minutes, the group had taken firearms and locked the on-duty officers inside a vehicle, according to police spokesperson Colonel Athlenda Mathe.

Later, after leaving the station, the suspects allegedly robbed a nearby food outlet and filling station. They robbed the businesses of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Manamela voiced concerns about the escalating unacceptable attack on police in the province.

She was speaking after yet another attack on police officers.

On Saturday 21 January 2023 seven gunmen opened fire on members of the Witbank Flying Squad on the N4 Highway. They stopped to assist a stranded motorist on the road.
