7 arrested in Buipe over attack on newly enskined Fulani Chief
Seven(7) people have been arrested after angry youth of Buipe attacked a newly enskined Fulani chief in the town.
The youth, according to eyewitnesses raided the residence of the Fulani chief and destroyed several properties, including setting part of the house on fire.
The chief however was able to escape in his vehicle as the rampaging youth chased him with stones, sticks, and other offensive objects.
An eyewitness who confirmed the incident said the attack occurred closer to the Buipe police station where the Fulani chief’s residence is located.
“The youth of Buipe as part of their grand agenda to disrespect the authority of the Buipewura is doing a lot to create a false sense of insecurity and to make Buipe ungovernable. They hired a woman to set up the Fulani chief of Mande to make him look bad in the eyes of the good people of Buipe. The Fulani chief saw through their malign plans and reported the woman to the police. When the police invited the woman for questioning, the youth stormed the police station to demand her acquittal”.
According to the eyewitness, the chief was nearly lynched by the angry youth.
“After destroying his house, the youth chased the chief in front of the station. He was saved because of his car”. The eyewitness added.
