New reopening date for all Basic Schools and Senior High Schools in Ghana
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has made some changes in the re-opening date for basic and senior high schools for January 2023.
Following the release of the academic calendar, the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a new re-opening date for basic and senior high schools for the 2022/2023 academic year, which is as follows.
Second Cycle Schools
SHS 3: Tuesday, 10th January, 2023
SHS 2: Tuesday, 10th January, 2023
SHS 1: Till further Notice
Basic Schools
Tuesday, 10th January, 2023
The only changes in the reopening dates is that of the Senior High Schools. They were first to report on 9th January, 2023. However, 9th January happens to be a public holiday. For this reason, the reopening date has been shifted to the next day for both day students and borders.
The full calendar for the 2023 Academic year for pre-tertiary public schools will be made available at the various media platforms, MoE/GES websites, and other social media handles.
In a press statement, GES Revealed;
Management of Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform students, staff, parents, and the general public that due to the statutory Holiday on Monday, 9th January, 2023, the Senior High Schools are expected to reopen on Tuesday, 10th January, 2023.
Heads of basic schools are to note that the reopening date for primary and Junior High Schools remain 10th January, 2023.
Students, staff and the general public are to take note.

The full calendar for the 2023 Academic year for pre-tertiary public schools will be made available at the various media platforms, MoE/GES websites, and other social media handles.
GES also plans to make sure that all students are well protected as Covid-19 seems to be on the rise again. All students are advised to wear masks when necessary to keep them safe.
