Cost of Living Allowance (COLA)
The NTC considered the necessity for a swift return to macroeconomic stability as well as the existing economic issues, cost of living, company viability, and the desire to achieve higher levels of employment when setting the 2023 NDMW.
The Committee determined that the 2023 National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) will be implemented on January 1, 2023, with a 15% Cost-of-Living Allowance (COLA) over that wage.
The Cost of Living Allowance will continue to be provided to employees until discussions are over because 2023 Base Pay Negotiations had no results in 2022.
Prior discussions came to an end with the government giving 18% and organized labor seeking 58%.
It is alleged conclusions will be made on 21% plus COLA, 21% Plus COLA ; Public sector workers Salary Negotiationsworkers also think if organised labour is going to accept 21% Plus COLA they should rather accept 36% without COLA as Government can take out COLA at any Given time.
