George Mason University embarked on free Health Screening, Education at Trinity Hospital
Dr. Susan O Koduah, Assistant Professor, George Mason University School of Nursing, Virginia, USA has led a team of medical doctors in collaboration with Trinity Hospital to embark on health screening and education to residents of Pankrono and the surrounding communities.
Dr. Koduah explained that, the gesture aimed at offering Health Education and screening of prevalent conditions such as hypertension and diabetes including sex education within the communities.
She disclosed that, she had the opportunity to witness increased prevalence in vulva cancer during her visit at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in 2021.
According to her, considering the prevalence of vulva cancer, and based on her oncology background saw it necessary to offer sex education to the patients as well because, one of the risk factors is being exposed to some types of HPV.
She indicated that, Trinity Hospital was also given a couple of electronic BP monitors, Gluck meter and both female and male condoms for their family clinic and HIV services.
