As part of spreading love to mark the birth of Jesus Christ, the Aim Ghana Foundation incolaboration with Time to Think Foundation a Non-Governmental Organization has embarked on feeding the street exercise in kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Capital.
The exercise dubbed “Save the street children campaign” started from Adum through to Kejatia to Pampaso in the early hours of Tuesday 27th December 2022.
Ms Gladys Barnnie, the chief executive officer of Aim Ghana Foundation said food remains a basic necessity of life and a key ingredient for human growth, particularly street children.
She said many children and hawkers particularly those who cannot afford to eat nutritious meals, let alone, eat three times a day- they are less privileged.
“It’s Christmas and as part of our mandate towards ensuring that less privileged children on the streets also get access to nutritious meals, we embarked on this exercise to spread love.
Many of these streets children, mostly in uncleaned clothes, wriggled through traffic to solicit for arms to enable them to eat.
It is our mandate outreach and we are happy we have had hundreds of street children today.
Head potters (kayaye) and their children were left out. They were screened for various diseases while those who wanted to shave their hair were shaved by the foundation.
Memuna Idrisu, a Kayaye and a mother of four was among hundreds of street hawkers who thronged the Adum-Pampaso to meet the team.
Memuna who has been in Kayaye for the past 10 years to raise her children said she could not miss the opportunity describing the exercise as a timely intervention.
“Work have been bad for some time now because of the festivities to the extent that buying some drinks for my children this Christmas is has been difficult because I loads of needs to provide.
This gesture is not just a gift, it is a big celebration for me and my children,” she remarked.
