Police Officer who shot dead a 28-year-old man kills himself
A police officer who shot dead a 28-year-old boda boda rider in Malindi has taken his own life.

In the Thursday, December 22 incident, David Mukiri, based at the Malindi Airport Police Station, walked out of the airport gate to a nearby kiosk to pick up some foodstuff.
According to a police report seen by TUKO.co.ke, on his return, Mukiri came across a rider, Elvis Baya Thoya and they disagreed over unknown reasons.
As a result, the officer shot the rider thrice with his official firearm serial number CZ807 C122350, killing him on the spot.
Members of the public became rowdy and they started pelting stones, in the process, a vehicle belonging to Malindi OCS was stoned and the driver’s windscreen shattered.

Two officers Nicholas Waringa and Abubakar of Malindi Police Station sustained injuries on their right hands.
Baya’s body was moved to Malindi Sub County Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
Following the incident, Mukiri went missing only for his body to be found on Friday, December 23, in Malindi Airport farm.
The police said the officer shot himself in the lower jaw which bullet exited through the head.
His body was moved to Malindi Morgue pending investigations into the incident.
