BAWKU: 4 killed, 2 others in critical condition following fresh attacks
TWO armed robbery suspects were shot by police at the notorious Two-Mile Hill in the Port Moresby yesterday.
Assistant Police Commissioner NCD/Central Command Anthony Wagambie Jnr said the two armed suspects were on board a public motor vehicle (PMV) bus at the Two-Mile Hill area and were in the process of robbing passengers when the NCD sector patrol unit who were in the area intervened.
“The suspects numbering up to five held up the bus and were robbing the bus takings as well as passengers when police arrived at the location,” he said.
“The five attempted to flee, and one of the armed suspects opened fire on the police with a homemade gun and was shot by police.
“The other robbers also tried to shoot at police and were also shot.
“One was declared dead and the other is currently fighting for his life at the Port Moresby General Hospital.”
Wagambie said the area was known for criminal activities especially armed holdups and city police would be putting out more patrols in the area during this festive season.
