W/R: Self-styled Chiefs in trouble for petitioning Akufo Addo to remove the Western Regional Minister
W/R: Self-styled Chiefs in trouble for petitioning Akufo Addo to remove the Western Regional Minister
There is a fire on the mountain in the Western Region.
Some self styled chiefs in Aowin who petitioned the President of the republic to as a matter of urgency remove the Western Regional Minister, Richard Ebbah Obeng are in hot waters as the Traditional leaders in Aowin disowned them.
According to the Traditional Leaders in Aowin, the said release by the so called Chiefs was fake and lacks merit.
READ THEIR FULL STATEMENT BELOW:
PRESS RELEASE
DISREGARD PETITION BY SELF-STYLED OMANHENE AND HIS
COHORTS ON DEMAND FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE WESTERN-
NORTH REGIONAL MINISTER- HON. RICHARD EBBAH OBENG
It has come to the attention of the Aowin Traditional Council on a publication on the Ghana web
news page on 20th December, 2022 that some self-styled chiefs purporting to be in the Aowin
Traditional Area spearheaded by the self-styled Paramount chief, Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbuin
III have petitioned the President of the Republic and are demanding for the removal of the Western-
North Regional Minister, Hon. Richard Ebbah Obeng from Office.
The position of the Aowin Traditional Council on the above matter is that all the allegations
levelled against the Regional Minister by the self-styled Omanhene and his cohorts are
preposterous and without basis and merit.
It is rather the self-styled Omanhene, who, due to his parochial interest, wants to create a high
level of disaffection and apathy from the Presidency, most especially the President, to use his veto
power to remove the Regional Minister from office. It must also be noted that, this same self-styled
Omanhene is behind the alleged recent sanctioned wanton killings to which a bench warrant has
been issued for his arrest.
The Aowin Traditional Council, is therefore, by this press release respectfully debunking all the
unsubstantiated allegations levelled against the noble Regional Minister and also using this
opportunity to distance ourselves from the petition and the demand for the removal of the Regional
Minister and by extension imploring the President of the republic of Ghana and the general public
to disregard the petition and treat it with the contempt it deserves.
Again, the Aowin Traditional Council would like to emphatically state that the self-styled
Omanhene together with his cohorts and accomplices including the sub-chiefs do not possess the
customary and statutory mandates to demand for the removal of the Regional Minister on behalf
of the Aowin Traditional Council and Area Nananom of the Aowin Traditional Council would appreciate it very much if you could call for a
thorough investigation in relation to the so called sixteen sub-chiefs and the self-styled Omanhene
whose actions and inactions have brought shame and disdain on the Traditional leadership of the
Aowin Traditional Area.
Your usual cooperation is urgently needed in this matter.
Thank You.
