Juaboso Health Directorate sensitizes the public on safe abortion

The rate at which maternal mortality records increase in some health facilities are sometimes influenced by improper abortion among some women.
As part of good measures to reducing maternal mortality records in the society, the Sefwi Juaboso health directorate has organised a-day public sensitization on safe abortion. The sensitization was aimed at educating the public on the need for aborting an unwanted pregnancy and the safe way of doing it.
Speaking to Emmanuel Sowah of Onua News, the Medical Superintendent of Juaboso Government Hospital, Dr Solomon Yangnun said the Ghana Health Service(GHS) has put in all the policies and measures to prevent avoidable deaths from the antenatal service to safe delivery.
Dr. Solomon said it is time to sensitize the public to avoid terminating pregnancies at home by some women which is rather not safe for their health and sometimes leads to maternal death.
Dr. Solomon Yangnun explained that they are not calling on the public to engage in abortion but in a situation to terminate a pregnancy through foul means then it is better and safer if it is done by a professional health practitioner in the right environment.
He further indicated that the government has instituted good measures to ensure women don’t lose their lives in maternal services.
However, some of the participants of the sensitization expressed gratitude and pledged to adhere to the advice.
