The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Green House Montessori School in the Esaso in the Atwima Nwabiagya North district of the Ashanti Region Mr Daniel Kyere has called on the government to consider private schools in the supply of teaching and learning materials such as text and exercise books to private schools.
Mr Kyere who made the call in an interviews with Silver FM’s AKWADAA NYAME during the commissioning of ultramodern school complex noted that private schools are making a lot of sacrifice by enrolling many children into school free of charge, hence there is the need to support such children who would have hitherto become wayward and street children.
According to him, there are countless number of needy children attending private schools whose expenses are borne entirely by the proprietors of the school.
He disclosed that these expenses cover tuition, supply of exercise and text books, school uniforms, feeding and even sandals to wear to school. He added that, government must post some of the professional teachers to private schools and paid them as he did in government schools.
Mr Daniel Kyere, a professional teacher hinted that most of these children are either from poor or broken homes and have been left to their fate by their parents or families.
He said as, the government should therefore consider the plight of these unfortunate children adopted by private schools and come to their aid, as is done for their counterparts in public schools as they will all grow to serve the country in various capacities in the future.
He however debunked the assertion held by some that the establishment of private school is for profit making, stressing that majority of these schools, particularly Green House Montessori are intended to augment the government’s efforts of providing quality education to all children irrespective of their location or background.
He stated that when that is done, the country will achieve its vision of making education accessible to every Ghanaian child.
On his part, the chief of Esaso also Otumfour Hiahene Safokye Nana Asare Bawuah II has advised parents to prioritize the education of their children as that is the best legacy they could leave behind for their wards. He said no nation can develop without an educated population.
Nana Asare Bawuah II was speaking during a colorful durbar to commission ultramodern school complex of Green House Montessori in the Esaso community.
He emphasized the need to invest in the education of children as it has become evident that across the globe children are the future of every country. He advised parents to refrain from making unnecessary expenditure especially on funerals and to channel such funds into the training of their children who he observed are the leaders of tomorrow.
