PNC boycotts all NDC events after assault on General Secretary

Fetish Priests Association to demonstrate against government

The People’s National Convention (PNC) has announced a resolution by leadership to boycott all programmes to be organised by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) with immediate effect.

According to the third largest opposition party, the first largest opposition party assaulted its General Secretary, Janet Nabla, at the Accra Sports Stadium over the weekend when she led party officials to give the solidarity message to NDC delegates.

The PNC had received invitation from the NDC to be present and solidarise with them at the 10th National Delegates Congress.

However, some members of the NDC attacked the leader of PNC’s delegation.

According to a press statement jointly signed by its Communication Secretary, Samuel Ayesu, and Acting Youth Organiser Muniru S. Mohammed, the PNC said NDC officials who should have intervened looked on unconcerned as Ms Nabla was physically assaulted.

“Their reason was that, Madam Janet Nabla has not been joining them in their demonstrations and also she has been insulting their party.”

The matter has been reported to the Ministry’s Police Station while Ms Nabla was taken to hospital for medical attention.

The PNC said the assault in the month of December reminds its members of the overthrow of the Dr Hilla Limann-led government in December, 1981 by the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), from which the NDC was founded.

“This is the so-called political party that wants the people of Ghana to hand over the mantle of governance to them come 2024.

“Would Ghanaians be safe under this NDC?” the statement wondered.
