Transport fares reduction: Apply same to traders – Juaboso drivers to Gov’t as they comply with new directive
Following the press release from the Ghana Private Road Transport Union to all its branches across the country to reduce transportation fares by 15.3% with effect from Monday, December 19, 2022, Onua News’ Emmanuel Sowsh, has been monitoring the transportation fares situation in Sehwi Juaboso in the western north region.
Checks to the Juaboso GPRTU branch witnessed that the drivers have complied with the new price reduction. They told Onua News that they have reduced the transportation fares.
However, the drivers said they have reduced the transportation fares but prices for goods and services, and spare parts have not been reduced. They appealed to the government to instruct leaders of the trading unions to reduce their products.
Also, the Juaboso GPRTU chairman, Yaw Nketiah, urged the drivers to stick to the new changes in transportation fares. Stating that they are going by the same 15.3% reduction in transportation fares as directed by the national.
Meanwhile, some of the passengers spoke to Onua News about the new reduction in transportation fares.
