The ultra-modern newly constructed Circuit Court Complex located in Kwahu Nkwatia for the Kwahu East District of the Eastern region, on Friday, 16th December 2022, was inaugurated and handed over by Nana Owiredu Wadie (I), the Nkosuohene of Kwahu-Nkwatia to the Judicial Service to kick start its operations.
Again, over 500 pupils of Nkwatia D/A primary school also benefited from school uniforms, bags and other learning materials, a school items distributed by Nana Owiredu Wadie, Nkwatia Nkosuohene (development Chief) and the Chairman of KABAKA Foundation, a charity and non-governmental organization.
The distribution and the handing over ceremony on Friday, was part of activities to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the enstoolment of Nana Owiredu Wadie I as Nkosuohene (development Chief) of Nkwatia in 2021.
The residents of Kwahu Nkwatia have observed with admiration of Nana Owiredu Wadie I over the year and are amazed at his community support as development Chief and chairman of KABAKA Foundation.
Speaking at the school uniform & bags ceremony, the headmaster, Paagre John Bosco said he is grateful to the Nana Owiredu Wadie for paying special attention to students in his school.
He was optimistic that the gesture by KABAKA Foundation will improve attendance in his school since most of the kids were unable to go to school regularly because they had no uniforms and some of them had to even drop out of school.
Speaking to Afeema FM’s journalist, Afia Pokuah, the Executive Director for KABAKA Foundation, Dr. Henry Larbi on his part mentioned that the presentation forms part of their plans to motivate and making the Kwahu Nkwatia D/A School a Model School and a better choice for students from Nkwatia.
At the commissioning of the court complex, Nana Boamah Ayirepe (III), the Chief of Kwahu Nkwatia lauded Nana Owiredu Wadie (I) for executing series of developmental project towards transforming Kwahu Nkwatia and it’s environs.
Nana Ayirepe urged Chief Justice to elevate the circuit court to a high court status because of it furnishing standard.
On his part, His Lordship Richard Agyei Frimpong, an Appeal Court Judge highlighted that the construction and handing over this Nkwatia Circuit Court Complex which was fully funded by Nana Owiredu Wadie (I) is unmatched and it add to the ongoing investment to the judiciary infrastructure in the country.
However, he have asked traditional rulers to allow the full rigours of the law to apply when people are found culpable stressing that palaces are not court to handle or address such cases therefore, he urged them to desist from resolving criminal cases at palace.
This was the address delivered on behalf of the Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah during the commissioning of Kwahu Nkwatia Circuit Court Complex.
His Lordship Richard Agyei Frimpong noted a request by Nkwatia Chiefs to transform the Circuit Court to a High Court attributing the modern standard of the Nkwatia court complex.
His Lordship Richard Adjei Frimpong, a Judge at the Court of Appeal again made a passionate request to Ghanaians to have confidence in the justice system and not to resort to any violent protest that may curtail the peace and harmony in the country.
His Lordship Richard Adjei Frimpong finally urged the Nkosuohene to continue to serve in humility which has been his hallmark, adding that the title of Nkosuohene goes with endless service to people.
Nana Owiredu Wadie (I) the Nkosuohene of Kwahu- Nkwatia, believes to attain investment and industrial hub status, justice, improved security and safety for citizens tourists and investors should not be compromised.
To this end, his non-profit organization, Kabaka Foundation considered it imperative for the establishment of the court complex.
“providing a fair and effective justice system, we can reassure investors and visitors that Kwahu is a safe and security place to live and do business, but improving security is not just about building new institutions , it is also a out fostering a sense of oneness, peace and unity within our community” the Chief told Afia Pokuah.
The Nkosuohene called on the people of Nkwatia to bury their differences and unite to develop the area, because according to the chief, without unity, no community, town or country could develop and that unity played a leading role in all spheres of life.
