Residents of Aful Nkwata in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has expressed their profound gratitude to their Assembly member Hon Daniel Otuo Acheampong for their support which has enabled them to construct most of their deplorable roads.
They made this comment in an interview with Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame during their twelve years anniversary celebration since they created the electoral area which was once part of Amakom electoral area.
According to them, though government constructed the road but it was the Assembly member’s effort and hard work that led the construction.
“The Assembly member (Daniel Otuo Acheampong) has helped us tremendously and we are most grateful to him his effort”.
Sister Mary, a resident paid glowing tribute to the Assemblyman for the area for his contributions and support for the people in the area and the general development of the area.
“We want to thank the Assemblyman for Aful Nkwata, Hon. Otuo for always being with us”.
Touching on the challenges confronting the electoral area, Hon Daniel Otuo Acheampong, Assembly member for Aful Nkwata electoral said, Kumasi Children’s Park which lies at a strategic location at his area in the Kumasi Metropolis in the Ashanti Region, has been abandoned for some years now.
Kumasi children park occupies 15-acres of land and has, since its establishment in 1980, been used to create recreational activities for children in the Kumasi Metropolis
The KCP has a library, toilet and urinal facilities.
What used to give the KCP an edge over other recreational sites was its football pitch and playground with a merry-go-round.
Now the park is where encroachers and hooligans operate from and it is in a deplorable state.
The KCP has over the years not been utilised profitably, having been used rather as a football pitch for clubs in the metropolis.
Hon Otuo Acheampong revealed that, the place has been recently hideout for hooligans, posing a threat to residents living nearby and passers-by. He said, drug peddlers and users use the premises for selling and smoking to the detriment of children or members of the public who go there to seek peace and calm.
The lack of control has made the drug peddlers so influential that the park has lost its serene atmosphere.
Again, the KCP has in recent times been a hideout for thieves in the area, he added.
Since the KCP lies in the vicinity of the Kumasi-Accra main road at Amakom, there are a number of passers-by and most of them are robbed of their belongings.
He then appealed to Kumasi traditional council and government to come to their aid to rebuild the center to revived it’s purpose.
