Governance Expert bemoans paying of property tax to government
Governance Expert has bemoaned the paying of property tax to the government.
The Governance Expert who doubles as Political Analyst, Mr. Andrew Owusu stated that property tax is not suppose to be paid to the government.
He has bemoaned about how the property tax is now being paid to the government of Ghana.
According to him, the property tax is supposed to be paid to the District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies to support the assemblies activities but not the government.
He explained that the property tax is income from the Internal Generated Fund (IGF) use to support the activities of the MMDCEs.
Mr Owusu blamed the local government Minister, Hon Dan Botwe for allowing the government to receiving the property tax which he described as unlawful.
He is therefore appealing to the government to allow the assemblies to collect the property tax because according to him, as it stands now some of the assemblies are collapsing over lack of fund.
He spoke to Obofo Michael of Agyenkwa FM, Kumasi.
