Central Region: The only Bridge that links Jukwa to Kakum National Park is on the verge of collapsing | VIDEO

Bridge linking Jukwa to Kakum National Park road in the Hemang Lower Denkyira District of the Central Region is on the verge of collapsing.
Between Jukwa Bremang and Mbem the bridge was seriously affected by a heavy downpour on Saturday June 18, 2022.
Following the incident, officials of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Ghana Highways Authority were at the scene to assess the situation to find a permanent solution to the problem.
The contractor reported to site, cleared the weeds protecting the soil from easily loosing into the water and after that left the site.
Currently, all the protective soil of the bridge is lost from the edge of the road up to the white markings on the road. The situation is very alarming since all the users of the road, are forced to use only one side of the road.
In an interaction with Joel Donkoh Bankam Fm Morning Show Producer, during a tour to the area on Tuesday November 29, 2022 Hon. Nana Kwaku Abban who is the presiding member in the district as well as his electoral area said, the bridge has been awarded by the ministry of roads and highways with direct supervision from the Central Regional Highways Authority adding that he has personally made several follow ups to the region, but to no avail.
The bridge serve Tourists who are heading to the Kakum National Park, one of the most famous tourists sites in Ghana,tracks heading to and from Twifo oil palm plantation,heavy duty tracks,vehicles and residents are all in danger using the road.
The residents said the situation is very worrying and alarming which needs an urgent attention to address the situation to avoid any catastrophe,some drivers also expressed their disappointment in the authorities of the Ghana Highway Authority which seems unconcerned about the situation.
