2022 Farmers Day Celebration: Jukwa to become the Agricultural Production Hub in Central Region

Jukwa in the Hemang Lower Denkyira of the Central Region will host this year’s Regional Farmers Day Celebration.

The day will be celebrated on the 2nd of December, 2022 at the Jukwa Community Park.

The farmers day celebration is meant to honor our gallant farmers for their immense contribution to the development of Agriculture in Ghana since it was instituted in 1985.

The Central Regional Minister Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, Nana Ama Ayensua Sarah lll (Denkyira Hemaa), DCE Hon. Kennedy Sarpong, some government officials and other traditional rulers would grace the occasion.

According to the Agriculture Minister Dr. Afriyie Akoto his observation during a field trip to the western Region, Western North Region and the Central Rgion this month was to assess the genuine situation on the ground in terms of food production in the country.

During the visitation at Jukwa in November this year, the Agric Minister expressed his profound gratitude to the CEO Of Exim Bank Ghana Mr Lawrence Kwabina Agyinsam for his hardwork, saying he’s the backbone of Ghana’s development through agriculture production in the District.

In an interview with Bankam Fm Morning show Producer Joel Donkoh, Hon Isaac Mensah Snr, the Assembly member for Jukwa west electoral area has also  expressed his appreciation to Mr Lawrence Agyinsam for his great contribution to agriculture production in Jukwa and the entire country at large.

Jukwa is now blessed with factories like:

•Broomfield (cassava flour factory) at Jukwa Abodo.

•Central Oil Mail (canned palm foods for both exports and local consumption) under 1D1F at Jukwa Ansamaso.

•Green House for the production of vegetables such as Tomatoes,Cucumbers and Green pepper at both Jukwa and Asamasa(sub of Jukwa)

•Charcoal factory for the production of briket charcoal for exports at Jukwa.

•Farm Freash is the largest poultry farm in Central Region which has two hundred thousand (200,000) capacity building for poultry production, fifty thousand (50.000) birds are so far laying eggs, which produces one thousand five hundred (1,500) crates of eggs daily with hundred thousand (100,000)birds to be laying by February next year.

In terms of employment out growers scheme was introduced to the farmers in which fertilizers,seeds and other agro chemicals were given to the framers to produce four hundred (400) acres of maize this year.

Over 450 workers has been employed through agriculture production at Jukwa and it enclave.
