The Ghana-Turkey Co-operation and Development Association (TUDEC), a global non-profit organization in collaboration with the member of Parliament for New Juaben South constituency, Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi have donated food items in support of the aged and other vulnerable people in Koforidua.
The package for each beneficiary include 5kg of rice, cooking oil, a tin of Milo, tin tomatoes, mackerels, salt, vegetables and other edible items.
Hon Michael Okyere Baafi speaking to the beneficiaries on Sunday, 13, at Koforidua Apenteng Hall, he urged Ghanaians to support the government because, in the midst of the global catastrophe, the President is ensuring that every Ghanaian enjoy stable electricity power supply.
The MP said Ghanaians must rather applaud NPP gov’t as no fuel and food shortage experienced in Ghana, adding the government flagship programs including the ambitious Free Senior High School policy continue to run regardless of the challenges confronting the country’s economy.
He added that the government is determined to work around the clock to revamp the economy.
Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi told Afeema FM’s journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari in a sideline interview that the intervention which falls under the Social Intervention Initiative of TUDEC was aimed at supporting the most vulnerable and elderly who would have difficulty with providing food for themselves and their families in light of the current situation and subsequent days ahead.
He said, TUDEC distributed over 100 package of food meant to help the needy to survive the in this crucial moment.
For his part, the president of TUDEC, Mr. Cafer Tepeli underlined his determination to do everything his nongovernmental organization could perform to make things a bit better for the vulnerable in Koforidua and across the country.
He biblically quoted that the rich in the community must be each other’s keeper and show generosity to the socially-disadvantaged in these trying times.
“If we are wealthy and do not offer kindness to these men and women, God will not be happy with us and will not even forgive us on the day of judgement so let’s be our brother’s keeper,” the president told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari.
He later mentioned that it’s important the government ensure food security and cut the cost of living for its citizens many Ghanaians are striving to survive the economic situation.
The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the MP and TUDEC for the gesture.
Lucy Darkoh, a widow who received the items praised TUDEC and Hon. Micheal Okyere Baafi for just decided to remember vulnerable people like her that may not be able to cater for themselves within this Christmas festive period.
