Ghanaian YouTuber’s call to the Bar on hold for ‘lack of good character’
Elorm Ama Governor Ababio, a final year student of the Ghana Law School has been barred from this year’s Bar Call scheduled for Friday November 11th 2022.
Elorm Ama Governor Ababio was reportedly barred following her TikTok videos that allegedly portray a life unbecoming of a prospective lawyer.
An online petition over the “injustice” meted her by the Law School has garnered more than 2500 signatures.
The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) and the General Legal Council (GLC) have reportedly approved the new policy for call to the Bar.
As part of new requirements, law students are expected to submit their social media handles to the school for “monitoring” starting from the current academic year.
Ama Governor, an aspiring lawyer who has attained all the academic graduation requirements to be called to the Ghana Bar has become the first victim of the policy due to her posts on her social media handles, especially Tiktok.
While no reference has been made to this additional fact, Elorm Ama Ababio is a self-confessed LGBTQI+ advocate with several body piercings and a sizable number of followers on various social media platforms including Twitter, TikTok and YouTube channel under her name.
