Benzema wins Ballon d’Or 2022
France Football have confirmed that Real Madrid star striker Karim Benzema has won the 2022 Ballon d’Or award.
It is the first time ever he gets his hands on the award, beating Sadio Mane to the trophy, who finished in second.
The Frenchman recorded 44 goals and 15 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions for Madrid last season. He was crucial part of Carlo Ancelotti’s La Liga and Champions League success.
Zinedine Zidane, the last Frenchman to win the award in 2002, hands the golden ball to Karim. Very symbolic.
