New Juaben North: Samuel Osei Sarkodie Aim’s Big Push For Youth In Agriculture
The Youth Organizer for the New Patriotic Party in New Juaben North constituency of the Eastern Region, Mr. Samuel Osei Sarkodie has vowed to implement a new policy framework to guide the implementation of interventions geared towards Agricultural flourishing in the Area.
The “Youth In Agriculture” policy according to Samuel Osei Sarkodie, will provide strategic drive to harness the value of the Constituency youthful population to provide opportunities for young people in New Juaben North.
This, he said, is in line with the NPP government’s vision of addressing specific challenges faced by the youth in agriculture to ensure many of them find opportunities in the lucrative sector.
The NPP Constituency Youth Organizer made the revelation in an exclusive interview with Afeema FM’ journalist, Kaakyire Kwasi Afari on Wednesday, 14th September, 2022 at Akwadum in the New Juaben North.
Sarkodie therefore urged young people to venture into the agriculture sector because it is the biggest sector in the country and the country needs the youth to support it.
He bemoaned the unwillingness of most Ghanaian youth to take up farming despite the venture being capable of putting one on the path of financial freedom.
According to him, young people usually showed no interest in farming due to the assumption that the venture was unprofitable, adding that, policies must be put in place to make agriculture very attractive to the teeming unemployed youth.
He said many people, especially the youth in the constituency and the country do not appreciate the significance of farming as a source of income, saying, they see it as a difficult task which hardly yields profit which is not true.
He again challenged the youth in Akwadum, Suhyen, Mpaem and Jumapo to always seek the help they need from him and also have partners, adding that the youth should also try to find solutions for themselves as he is ready to support them in the challenges like land’s shortage and fund.
Describing the sector as profitable, Mr. Samuel Osei Sarkodie encouraged the populace to see farming as a business capable of alleviating poverty.
The NPP youth organizer moreover bemoan number of youth lamenting over lack of capital for small scale investment attributing it to lack of adopting saving culture.
He advised the youth to take savings seriously adding that, it would enable them to venture into small scale businesses to minimize the high unemployment rates in New Juaben North and the country at large.
