Four Arrested For Possession Of Unlicensed Firearms
Police Arrest Leader Of Criminal Gang Which Robbed Hotel, R@ped Staff
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested four people for possession of unlicensed firearms in two separate incidents.
In a statement, the police said they received a tip off in Chitulipasi and arrested Innocent Mbedzi (28) for possessing a firearm without a firearm certificate. Police recovered a Pietro Berreta pistol with a magazine of seven rounds and an okapi knife from the suspect.
In a different case, ZRP Eiffel Flats arrested Pardon Mboma (20) on 09 September 2022 for possessing four 9 mm live rounds without a licence.
Mboma who was allegedly selling the ammunition later implicated two security guards, John Marandwe (23) and Godfrey Matika (47) who are employed by a local security company as the suppliers of the ammunition.
“The ZRP urges the public to take heed of the Presidential Firearms Amnesty and voluntarily surrender illegally possessed or unlicensed firearms and ammunition to the Police. On 10/09/22,” said the police.
