Asante Kotoko has appointed Burkinabe coach Seydou Zerbo as substantive coach.
Zerbo who has previously coached Burkina Faso’s national football team joins Kotoko on a one year deal, with the option of a further year.
The 59 year old has previously coached teams like SONABEL, ASFA Yennenga, and Rail Club du Kadiogo, who Kotoko are set to face in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

He was also in charge of the Burkina Faso team that eliminated Ghana in 2019, during the CHAN Qualifiers. The Stallions however failed to progress from the group stages at the tournament in Cameroun.
Asaase Sports can confirm the 59year-old is already in Ghana and will fly with the team to Sudan where Kotoko will continue their pre-season preparations.
Zerbo’s first task will be to guide the team through the second phase of their pre-season in Sudan, where they are expected to play with Al Hilal in a friendly match. as they get ready for the new season.
His first competitive game however, will be against Accra Hearts of Oak in the Champion of Champions on Sunday, September 5, 2022. That will be followed by the CAF Champions League tie against Burkina Faso’s Rail Club du Kadiogo, the club he started his coaching career with in 2013, a week later.
