Driver Dies After Being Trapped By Timber Log At Sankore
A truck driver carrying timber logs has been crushed to death at Sankore in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo region when one of the logs fell on him.
The incident which occurred in the afternoon of Wednesday, August 17, 2022 drew a lot of residents to the scene with many seen wailing.
According to one Boampong who is an eyewitness, the deceased lost control when he was negotiating the curve a four armed junction that link between the Sankore – Kwapong – Kokooso – Abuom communities.
The driver’s mate upon seeing the looming danger managed to jump off the truck before the accident occurred.
Speaking to one Nana Kwame Agyemang-Opambour, onlookers at the scene told the deceased to jump off from the vehicle but he insisted on driving to the outer lane of the road to prevent the logs from falling.
However, upon sensing that he would not succeed, he attempted to jump off, only to be trapped by one of the longest log.
He died instantly before onlookers managed to removed him from the trapped log.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Goaso Municipal Hospital with the police pending further investigations.
