Burial of Andrews Donkor: Justice delayed is Justice denied – Group Fumes
Already, preparations for the burial of Andrews Donkor, a 35-year-old man allegedly shot by military personnel have been put in place with various activities scheduled for this week.
His sudden demise sparked array of actions by human right advocacy groups including SHAIP Africa Foundation, a non-governmental organization and several Nzema groups over little to no effort leading to arrest and prosecution of his killers.
Ahead of Andrews Donkor’s burial the CEO of SHAIP Africa Foundation, Mr. Clement C. Blay has bemoaned that they have seen no significant move made by CHRAJ to begin the inquiry process after 4 months, leaving the soldier without punishment..
The group is renewing its call demanding justice for a 35-year-old Donkor, who died under such mysterious circumstances.
There was a confrontation between some military personnel and some youth of Teleku-Bokazo in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region on Friday, April 1, led to the death of a 35 year-old Andrews Donkor in front of a court premises at Nkroful.
Information gathered indicated that the trigger of the incident was the arrest of some illegal miners from the the communities were who allegedly trespassed the concession belonging to a mining company in the district, Adamus Resources Limited.
According to sources, most of the residents who were not enthused about the arrest of their colleagues besieged the court observe and support the arrested youth.
The family of Andrews Donkor has However announced commencement of the funeral rites with Wake Keeping slated Wednesday, 17th August, 2022, at Teleku-Bokazo whiles his body is set to be laid to rest on Thursday, 18th August, 2022 respectfully.
Mr Clement C. Blay believes that efforts to obtain justice for Andrews are very unsatisfactory from State actors and Adamus, the company concerned vicariously.
The group acknowledge the support of all stakeholders including MP of Ellembele for the effort, especially the court action.
Mr. Clement Clinton Blay has promise the family that his group shall do everything possible to seek justice for Andrews Donkor as we did for Michael Derry, even though they have not had the chance to pursue the matter in a manner to obtain the needed results.
