Navrongo: Gov’t is committed to addressing water challenges across Ghan – Nana Addo as he commissions 37m Euros water project
Government says is committed to addressing water challenges across Ghana.
The President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has commissioned the Navrongo Water Treatment Plant with the call on consumers to always pay their water bills to enable the Ghana Water Company Limited to mann the facility efficiently.
The facility, which will provide portable drinking water to people within towns like Paga, Navrongo, Bolgatanga and Zuarungu, was constructed at cost of over 37 million Euros.
This project is to curb the menace of acute water shortage in parts of the Upper East Region.
The President, Nana Akufo-Addo added that provision of portable drinking water by the government is in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal 6, which aims at ending all water supply challenges in the country by 2040.
The Minister for Water Resource, Cecilia Dapaah in her address disclosed that the facility has the capacity to treat about four and half million gallons of water daily.
She quoted the National Chief Imam of Ghana saying, “…we were all created in water…” to back her comment that water is everything and human beings can not do anything without it.
The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu on his part stated that the issues of acute water shortage in the region, especially during the dry season is a thing of the past.
He added that the Nana Addo – Bawumia led government is a listening government and working to deliver its promises.
According to him, the Flagstaff programs like Planting for Food and Jobs, Free Senior High School program, one district, one factory, one constituency, one ambulance, one district, one warehouse and many pro-poor policies promised by this government are all progressing steadily.
The Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality in the Upper East Region, Pe Dennis Aneakwoa Belinia Adda Asagpaare II, on his part stated that the people of Navrongo and Upper East Region in general would be more grateful to government if the Navrongo Sports Stadium Complex is completed and handed over for use.
He added that completion of the Paga in land port project is one major achievement of the government.
