EJISU WILL BE THE TEMA IN ASHANTI REGION SOON – MCE
The Ejisu MCE believes the Boankra Inland Port Project will make Ejisu Beautiful and busy Business area like Tema.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Oduro Frimpong has stated that, his community will very soon be compared to Tema in the Greater Accra Region after the completion of the Boankra Inland Port Project.
The MCE was speaking with Nana Kwabena Ampratwum on Omanbapa morning show on Silver FM monitored by Filasconews.com today.
The Boankra Inland Port will be linked to the Takoradi Port and the Tema Port. The Takoradi Port is in the western part of Ghana and it is Ghana’s first commercial port, opened in 1928 to serve the needs of the mining industry and to handle imports of consumer goods.
Shippers and Freight Forwarding Agents spend much time clearing their cargo from the Ghanaian ports. As a result, the cost of doing business in Ghana through the Tema and Takoradi ports is high.
This research investigates the potential impact the establishment of an inland port will have on a reduction in congestion at the Tema and Takoradi ports and on the efficiency of the freight transport system.
The establishment of the Boankra Inland Port, near the Ghanaian city Kumasi will reduce congestion at Tema and Takoradi ports aside making the area attractive to visitors.
