How can only 70 people die in Assin?- Birth and Death Registrar cries over low death rate
The Assin Fosu Municipal Registrar of the Birth and Death registry, Mr. Samuel Tawiah Gyamera has said, their entry number in the second quarter of 2022 in the whole of Assin under the death registration is only 70 , a figure he claims is not accurate.
In an interview with the media today, he asked ,, “how can only 70 people die in the whole of Assin and it’s environs?
He said they have done everything possible to educate the people on the importance of death registration to the country but people are still not patronizing it.
His emphasis on some of the major benefits of registering our dead relatives he opined it helps government to remove ‘ghost names’ from the pay roll.
On the side of birth registration, Mr. Samuel added that, they were able to register 724 new born babies in the second quarter of 2022 and he will make sure everyone gets a birth certificate in the Assin enclave.
