A/R: Asokwa District Court II remands 21 notorious land guards butchering residents at Homabenase(Videos, Contact)
The Asokwa District Court II of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region presided by Her Honor, Kissita Naah Quashie, Circuit Court judge, on June 29, 2022, remanded into custody, 21 land guards over vigilantism.
The Ashanti Regional Anti Robbery Squad arrested the 21 land guards on Monday, 27th June, 2022 at the Homabenase community within Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region around 2:00pm.
The security forces arrested them after they were allegedly conspired to committing crime with the Salifu Eleven vigilantes of Goaso.
But, the Salifu eleven land guards, upon seeing the police escaped from the community.
However, the police managed to arrest the remaining 21 local guards and arraigned them before court.
The Judicial Prosecutor for the Ashanti Regional Police Command in the accusation said, the 21 land guards in support of Salifu 11 team on last Friday, 24th June, 2022, surrounded a parcel of land, situated at Homabenase near Donyina , towns in Bosomtwe which belongs to a gazetted traditional ruler by Asantehene.
Meanwhile, the Okyeame of the Community, Nana Yaw Sarpong confirmed the incident today, Thursday, June 30, 2022, on Kumasi based Silver FM’s morning show monitored by Filasconews.com.
The Chief linguist revealed that, these land guards have been butchering and tormenting lives of residents in the area including himself.
“I was beaten to pulp by these same land guards”, Okyeame Sarpong disclosed on the Show hosted by Nana Kwabena Ampratwum.
They will reappear in court on July 8, 2022.
