Ex-Black Stars Player Passes Away
The death has been reported of the ex-Black Stars player, Abu Imoro, the man nicknamed ‘Tigana’.
Anthony Baffoe, president of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, made the statement.
Abu Imoro was a standout performer for the Accra Great Olympics and also turned out for Real Tamale United during his playing days.
he was a mainstay in the Black Stars teams around the 1980s.
During his playing days, Abu Imoro was a close friend of the legendary Abedi Pele.
He was given the nickname Tigana after former French footballer Juan Tigana because of his tenacity on the ball, which was something the French footballer was known for.
Those that have seen him play would tell you that his was a talent gone waste.

The stories have it that he was as talented as the legendary Abedi Ayew Pele.
Several factors, some very avoidable, however, contributed to ruining what could have been a glittering career.
This was a career curtailed by the use of hard drugs. Since hanging up his boots, Abi Imoro tried his hands at bringing up young talent but apparently, the use of the hard drugs had weighed heavily on him in that he was not able to continue that as well.
What followed was a life not befitting of a former Ghana international who featured for some of the best teams in the local scene then: Real Tamale United and Accra Great Olympics.
Some teammates came to his aid after a report by 3Sports Yaw Ofosu Larbi on how he became a pauper.
Former Black Stars goalkeeper Abukari Damba was one of those former players who took upon himself the challenge of seeing to it that the former Ghana international, Abu Imoro, got reformed.
The midfielder was later sent to a rehabilitation centre to help him reform after the report.
His brother, Adams Moro, took to his Facebook wall, Tuesday afternoon, to report the death of Abu Imoro.
“I just lost my brother the former Ghana midfielder Abu Imoro T-Ghana, may his soul rest in Jannah,” wrote, Abu Imoro’s brother, Adams Moro.
His story should provide useful lessons for all and remind all of us that talent, unsupported by the required discipline, can’t take one far enough.
