Some female shop attendants within the Kumasi Central Business area have called on the government and other stakeholders to as a matter of urgency, make sure they do the needful for shop owners to go back to work.
Some of them speaking to newsbanc.net in an exclusive interview, they said the effects on hikes in prices of goods due to high inflation, coupled with killer vats were indeed affecting them too. According to them their shop owners were making no gains, hence, their inability to pay them well.
Revealing their worst experience, they disclosed that now that the shop have had no option than to shut down their shops, workers are really breeding with hunger.
“We can’t be sleeping with men for survival all the time. Why is the government doing this to our owners? You may be at the shop whilst a tax collector will come and sit beside you to calculate your sales. Which place do we practice this?” One said.
Another lady who spoke to this reporter disclosed that shop attendants and other indirect beneficiaries of the Kumasi shops were indeed suffering following the closure of shops.
She however pleaded with the government and GRA to empathize with the people and do what is right for them.
