There’s no Gospel Musician in Ghana any longer – Man of God boldly speaks

THERE’S NO GOSPEL MUSICIAN IN GHANA ANY LONGER

Christian music comes by divine inspiration;

God gives a message and it is sung back to Him and His children, such songs transcend generations, denominations continents, races and usually languages.

The book of Psalms (the Hymn book of Israel) was written within a period of about 1000 years (by prophets, priests, kings and the righteous exclusively), that is from Exodus. 15 to Psalm. 137, which is from exile to exile (Egypt-Israel-Babylon).

These are some Lyrical content of Biblical Musicians: Psalm. 22, Philipians. 2:5-11; 1Timothy. 3:16. Philipians. 5:9-10.
Gospel music is actually Christocentric!

Ghana Gospel Music began with the advent of the earliest Christian Missionaries, who Christianised Ghana. On their arrival, one basic Christian literature they brought was Hymnals. They emmediately translated them into local languages and their spiritual progenies also later used them as templates for composing local gospel songs, these Ghanaian indigenous gospel musicians kept the standards of the original hymns and their songs were incorporated into the church hymnals. This practice was trans-denominational in Ghana and beyond for Catholics, Orthodox, Evangelical and Pentecostals.

Why have all the main-stream churches sealed (canonised) up their hymn books? It so, because the said churches don’t trust their modern composers and singers, for their works can not meet Christian standards.

As the invetion of sound-system, radio and television necessitated the recordings of Christian songs for the public and private usage. It additionally catalysed the purpose of gospel music from true worship to the commercializations of Christian music. Since then, the relative motif remains immutable: how to hit the market, make money and fame, regardless the inconsistency it is with the scriptures and Christian standards.

This initiated the gradual condecendency of Gospel music in Ghana. The death of Unice Aboagye blew the whistle for the beginning of partial
apostasy infiltration. And the total apostasy was publicly inaugurated, when the late Seth Frimpong won the popular gospel song (“me huri so’_ i leap for it”) and Artiste of the year in Ghana. What an unfortunate total departure from Scriptures and Christian standards!

The Christendom in Ghana has been deprived of Psalms, Hymns and spiritual songs (Colossians 3:16) by these scripturally unnurtured composers and singers.

Here is the downward stages of gospel music declination in Ghana for decades:

First:
LATENT GOSPEL MUSICIANS:
These singers were not totally gospel:
Comfort Annor, Osuani Katakyie Afirifa, Helena Rhabbles, Mark Anim Wirenkyi, Kyei Barfour, Mary Ghanza, Amy Newman, Francis Agyei, Danny Nartey, etc.

These artistes were carnal Christians, who never made the efforts to undergo proper Christian maturational process, and therefore could not articulate any scriptural truth in their lyrical content.

Second:
SCANDALIZED GOSPEL MUSICIANS:
Esther Smith, Obaapa Christ, Diana Akewmi, Cindy Thomson Agnes Opoku Agyemang, Bishop Michael Osei Bonsu, Noble Nketia, Gifty Hopeson, Cece Twum, Yawn Sarpong and Asomafour, Rev. Yabs, Helena Rhubbles, Sonny Badu, Rev. Kusi Berko, Sonny Badu, Cece Twum, Rev. Josh Laye, etc.

Some of these gospel stars were/are true Christians who did not know how to handle stardom, whereas the rest are/were volves in sheep skins.

Third:
HYDONISTS’ GOSPEL MUSICIANS:
Rev. Thomas Yawson, Tagoe Sisters, Daughters of Glorions
They depart because of the pleasures of this world or follow the trend: Rev. YABS, Rops, Amy Newman, Hannah Marfo, Dorcas Appiah, Edward Akwasi Boateng, Rev. Mesh Bonsu etc.

Fourth:
PSUEDO-GOSPEL MUSICIANS:
Kofi Abraham, Yawn Asomani, Yawn Sarpong and Asomafour.
Their church menbership or Christian status is usually uncertain!

Fifth:
CAPRICIOUS GOSPEL MUSICIANS:
Their musical carrier happened by chance with a short-lived hit songs:
Getty and Friends, Suzy and Matt, Nana Yaw Asare, Young Missionaries, Esther Smith, Joe Burchem, Kwaku Gyasi, Noble Nketia, Grace Ashie, etc.

These artites are religious mules.
Though they are romancing the gospel music, unfortunately, they can procreate spiritually.

Sixth:
COMICAL GOSPEL MUSICIANS:
Kwajo Ampong, Omane Akyeampong, Nacy, Koda, Brother Samy and Cecilia Marfo, Soul Winners etc.

They don’t have what it takes to write scriptural songs. That is why the public considers them as comedians. They are partial postate gospel musicians.

Seventh.
APOSTATE GOSPEL:
Ohemaa Mercy, Seth Frimpong, Rev. Ebenezar Adakwa Yiadom, Oware Junior, Celestine, Piesie Esther, Diana Asamoah, Obaapa Christy, Diana Hamilton, OJ, Kofi Sarpong (DSP), Ernest Opoku, Philiper Barfi, etc.

The lyrical, video and postural contents of these artistes depict self-exultations, singing for money, they showcase what they have. They think material acquisition equates godliness. They commercialize the the gospel. They are a bunch deception.

Eighth:
THRENODISTS GOSPEL:
Ama Boahemaa, Yaw Sarpong and Asomafour, Ofa Yaw Asomani, Mama Esther and Kofi Abraham.

These degeneration has happened to Christianity as result lack of godly and gospel preacher in Ghana and beyond.
Godly preachers don’t die alone, they die together with their gospel musicians.
The lyrical content of hit songs is the accurate portrait of the general spiritual state of every Christian generation.

Chrustian music it supposed to serve as foot-notes for sound sermons from Christian pulpits: pure gospel, pure worship, pure vineyard service and declaration of scriptural truths. That was why the reformers were fighting for the individual Christian ownership of Bible and Hymnal.

Nineth:
ESTHER NYAMEKYE, ELDER MIREKU AND SERVICE OFFEI.
Pew Bibles and pew Hymnals.

Tenth:
REHEARSING GOSPEL MUSICIANS:
Nii Okai, Uncle Atto, Moses OK, Joe Mettle, MoG, etc are still only rehearsing gospel music in Ghana. They could see there is something wrong with modern gospel music in Ghana. They are handicapped because, they were not Christianly brought up well. They are neither fastidious about Scriptures nor have had well vest godly nen to nurture them suitably!

Eleventh:
INTEGRITY GOSPEL MUSICIANS:
Lamentably, there are few reminant trusworthy gospel musicians alive, but their songs sound in the ears to this depraved and hypocritical generation of pastors, churches and worshipers of God!
Elder Mireku, Esther Nyamekye,
Nii Okai, Mcc Sarpong Abraham, Bernice Offei, Jane and Bernice, Juliet Amoah, etc.

Though these Artiste still have the light, they are not making waves any longer because, Ghana does not have Enough True Churches, Pastors and Christians to patronize pure gospel songs. God have Mercy!

Psalm. 11:3.
“When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

The true gospel music begins with true pastors with pure Bible based sermons to raise trul converts withem are built true churches, from which true gospel musicians will imitate to gospelise Ghana and beyond through preaching, singing and living!

The state of Christianity is Ghana now, (which is a potential case study for the global church) requires only divine intervention for the restoration of Ghana Gospel Music.
