Sokoban inferno:Fire service personnels stoned by aggrieved residents over delay, driver hospitalised

The residents of Sokoban wood village in the Nhyiaeso Constituency of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in the Ashanti Region went berserk and threw stones at fire officers who were called to douse fire outbreak in the area.

According to report by the assembly member of the area, Hon. Kwadwo Boateng on Silver FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show in on November 25,2021, the aggrieved residents engaged in the illegal action against the fire officers after they lost all their belongings to the fire.

They believe if fire personnels were to arrived at the place early after serveral calls, their properties could’ve been saved.

The driver of the for the fire service vehicle sustained serious injury after a stone hit his head.

“Numerous stores, houses, game centers, woods worth millions of cedis have all burnt into ashes. Preliminary investigation exposed that, a game center near the village caused the fire. There are some people there smoking all kinds of drugs and through their activities, the place caught fire”, Hon. Kwadwo Boateng told the host of the program, Nana Ampratwum monitored by filasconews.

However, the assembly has condemned the unlawful and heinous act by his people against the fire officers and revealed that, he’s coorporatingc with the police and fire service to maintain calm in the area and help rectify the uncalled for incident meted out to the officers.

He also sympathised with the victims of the fire outbreak and pledge any necessary support to the people.
