Give the Youth opportunities and roles in your rulings, Akyem Oda Youth president to politicians in the area
Fada Amakye the Youth president for Akyem Oda, Asantemang Youth Development Associationt in the Eastern Region has urged politicians and Opinion leaders in the area to give the youth opportunities and roles to play in the area of governance in Akyem Oda.
Mr. Amakye who is populary known as Fada Amakye raised the concern while speaking on the importance of youth involvement in the country’s development.
He expressed worry about how some politicians disregard ideas of the youth in their communities saying, the time has come for the youth to rise up and defend the interest of the country.
Touching on the reason why the Oda ASA Youth group was created, Mr Amakye indicated that it was formed to unearth potentials of the youth in Akyem Oda and Akyem Akyem Asantemang and also to increase awareness about the needs of the communities.
“We have high ranking government officials in this area, yet look at how underdeveloped the area is. We are not seeing any development here and the youth too have been sidelined when it comes to activities relating to the interests of this particular jurisdiction. If they cannot include the youth in their plans then they do not deserve the position they are occupying at the moment,” he added.
He questioned what the “NPP big men” were doing to develop Oda and it’s environs seems it had become obvious that there are no good plans for the area.
Mr Amakye mentioned that it had become clear that all the political figures of the area needed was the votes of the people and nothing more. “Our welfare is not their concern.”
He stressed on the fact that many graduates in the area had now resorted to becoming Okada riders becomes of the high rate of unemployment.
He added that the only jobs the MP could help secure for some members of the youth in the area was driving or security jobs.
Bass roads, he said, were also part of the problem of the communities which the leaders have ignored for a long time now.
