Two teenagers received life sentences for the murder of 15-year-old Khayri Mclean.

The young man was stabbed in September of last year while he was returning from a school in Huddersfield.

The two young murderers—who shall remain unnamed for legal reasons—were given minimum prison terms of 16 and 18 years at Leeds Crown Court today.

Khayri was the target of the two boys’ “revenge attack,” prosecutor Jonathan Sandiford KC said in court.

The pair, dressed in black and wearing balaclavas, had targeted the schoolboy in an alleyway on September 21.

Khayri was stabbed in the chest with a 30cm blade, the court was told. The weapon was then plunged into his leg.

He managed to stagger to his feet with the help of friends and was taken to hospital where he later died.

North Huddersfield Trust School’s head Andrew Fell had paid tribute to Khayri as a ‘wonderful student’.

Khayri’s girlfriend, Shyana James, 16, told how she was chatting to him on Snapchat moments before he died.

Being comforted by her mother close to the murder scene, she had said: ‘He would drop anything for you and he’d do absolutely anything for anyone.

‘He was going home to get changed then he was going to come to mine.

‘He was the love of my life. He was just the best person I knew.’
