51.6% fully taken COVID 19 Vaccine in Ashanti Region – Director of Health

Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang, the Ashanti regional Director of Ghana Health Service(GHS) has disclosed that out of the 4,055,214 total doses administered in the Ashanti region, the total number of persons fully vaccinated are 1,662,443 making it 51.6% out of the total population.

According to him, the number of persons received at least one dose recorded 2,363,484 which about 73.4%.

Dr. Tenkorag revealed this at media briefing to update the public on the current situations of the COVID 19 pandemic in the region. Says the their current challenge against taking the vaccines is the attitude of hesitancy and Misinformation, and urged the public to refrain from such attitudes by taking the vaccines for their own safety.

He underscored that, the vaccination Prevent one from getting COVID 19 disease, Prevent the spread of the disease from one person to the other,

Minimize severe form of the disease, Saves money and saves live.

He said the continuing demand generation strategies essential to increase coverage and make effective use of multiple and diverse channels to deliver information Working with Partners

He indicated that, Ashanti region is the second highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country, out of the sixteen Administrative regions.

The region he said recorded its first confirmed COVID-19 case on the 13th of March 2020.

He said Kumasi Metro and its environs and Obuasi are the most affected by the pandemic, while COVID 19 vaccination started in March 2021.
