Ga East NADMO To Inspects Flood-Prone Areas Ahead Of Rainy Season
The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has said adequate measures are being implemented to forestall any flooding catastrophe during the rainy season.
The Ga East NADMO Director, Mr. Seth Kissi said while embarking on public education and sensitisation programmes, his outfit will soon be inspecting flood-prone areas in the Municipality and other communities to reduce the impact of floods when the rains strike.
In a press briefing this morning, the NADMO Director added that some major drains have been dredged and identified safer places for stranded people.
The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has also served notice to people living in flood-prone areas to be prepared as the rains set in.
According to NADMO, it cannot predict the nature of rain patterns would be this year, therefore, the public needs to take precaution by moving to the safer grounds before the peak of the rains.
The Ga East Director of NADMO called for an attitudinal change and the need for people to adhere to the early warning signs when signals are sent.
Mr. Seth Kissi said because of the huge impact of last year’s flood, including, collapse of houses, destruction of farmlands, loss of lives and animals, NADMO has put in place measures to avert possible flood disasters in the affected areas.
He mentioned community sensitization, flood management practices, working tools, provision of information among others are some measures put in place by NADMO to enable to guard against flood this year.
