Awoshie-Pokuase street lights to be functioned by March 2022- MCE

The Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga Central Municipality in the Greater Accra, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Lamptey has disclosed that, the street lights on the Awoshie- Pokuase main road to be in function by March, 2022.

According to him, the Technical Capacity and the Financial resources impeded the Assembly’s functions to make sure the light are working.

Dr. Emmanuel Lamptey in an interview on Ghana Kwanso Program hosted by Okogyeabour Ocran on Monday, December 6, revealing the challenges said, the under ground cables which connect the street lights were also vandalized by some people in the community which made the work difficult for the authorities to go by.

The 17KM Road which was funded by the African Development Fund [ADF] and the Ghana government with the Huge Sum of $132m under the Late President J.E. A Mills administration in 2011 has met several community agitations over non – functioning of the street lights and the traffic light as the people record road accident on daily basis.

Responding to the malfunctioning of the traffic lights, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Lamptey said, the Control Panels for the traffic lights were out dated ones and got spoilt along the line but the report from the Urban Roads to the assembly revealed that, One control Panel will cost the state $ 38,000.

Responding to the encroachment of the pedestrians walk ways by some traders, Hon. Emmanuel Lamptey attributed it to recalcitrance on the part of the people as he says he has personally warned them but they refused to listen.
