Ghc800 per bag of cocoa: Cocoa Farmers disappointed in the Government
Ghana, cocoa farmers have expressed disappointed in the Government and Cocobod for the new cocoa price.
The cocoa farmers are worried that, the cocoa season, 2022/2023 cocoa price is unfair to the farmers in the country, Ghana.
Almost all the Cocoa Farmers across the country have expressed worries about the new price for cocoa.
The cocoa farmers who also members of the following Cocoa associations in Ghana, Obaatanpa Cocoa Farmers Co-operative Union, Dormaaman Cocoa Farmers Cooperative Union, Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association (GNACOFA) ,Upper Dwira North Cocoa Farmers Co-operative Union, WASSA Cocoa Farmers Co-operative Union etc. say they all not excited about the price.
They have disclosed today in an interview with the media that, Government and Cocobod should expect small volume of cocoa beans this season.
They said either they will cut down their cocoa trees and find alternative or sell it outside the country.
They disclosed that, the GHc800.00 per bag of cocoa in Ghana sells at 900CFA in Ivory Coast which is equivalent to GHc1,390.00.
Therefore, they have asked the government and Cocobod to come out with another new price else…. they will advice themselves.
