Police arrest Stephen Appiah for allegedly killing his wife

A 40-year-old man named Stephen Appiah was remanded for two weeks by the Bekwai Magistrate Court in the Ashanti Region after he allegedly repeatedly struck his wife’s head against a wall till she passed away.

According to reports, the incident happened a few days ago in Ofoase Kokoben in the local Bekwai Municipality.

Starrfm.com.gh reports that after carrying out the murder, the suspect wrapped the body of his late wife, Afua Abrefi, and dumped it in a bush.After not seeing her for several days, the deceased’s family reported her disappearance to the police.

“Upon investigation, the suspect was arrested and confessed to killing the wife.

“He led police to the scene where the body was retrieved and deposited at the morgue after taking the necessary inventories.

“Police put the accused before Bekwai Magistrate court and has been remanded for two weeks to enable police to conduct a further investigation for proper charges to begin the committal trial,” the news website reports.

According to a related news, the Nairobi police in Kenya detained a man who beat his wife to death when she arrived home late.

The Githurai 45 suspect was said to be in the custody of the law enforcement organization and aiding with more investigation.

Anthony Mbogo, the head of the Kasarani Police, confirmed the arrest and said the suspect was being held at the Kasarani Police station

According to accounts, the suspect struck Florence Kaari, the suspect’s now-deceased wife, badly damaged her head with a blunt instrument.

The assault caused her death.

On December 4, 2022, the sad episode is said to have taken place in front of Ruth Kaimenyi, the couple’s housekeeper.

The witness informed police detectives that the suspect had been drinking when he got home that fateful day and had became enraged when he realized his wife had come home.

In a fit of rage, the suspect barred the housekeeper from entering until the deceased came home and informed her of her husband’s threats and violent behavior.

Florence knocked on the door of her marital home anyhow, and the suspect opened it and invited her inside.

According to reports, a brawl broke out as soon as she entered the room, and Kaimenyi stood helplessly by till the sad event occurred.
