Bizarre: Physically challenged man burnt to death

A Twenty Seven year old physically challenged man, Michael Badu has been killed in an inferno at Anhwia-Bokazo, a suburb of Nkroful in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

According to report, the deceased, together with other natives in the community went to a small scale mining site called Adamus Company in the said area to mine illegally but luck eluded them on that fateful day, Wednesday, December 22, 2021.

They were spotted by the security operatives on duty and subsequently chased.

Unfortunately for him, the late Michael Badu could not run faster from his attackers due to his problem and he was nabbed by them.

He was beaten to pulp, with his hands and legs tied together at his back with rope.

After beaten him severely, the security men guarding the mining concession were unsatisfied, therefore, they soaked him with diesel and set him ablaze.

“All vital part of his body got burnt not excluding his manhood”.

He was later rushed to Eikwe government hospital in the region but was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital due to the degree of his injuries.

Sadly, the 27-year-old physically challenged man could not survive, he gave up his ghost on the Christmas day, December 26, 2021, Sunday at Korle-Bu.

However, two advocacy groups namely Shaip Africa and The National Alliance For Nzema Development are seeking for justice for the late and his family.

The groups want immediate prosecution of the guards who meted out the cruel and inhumane act to Michael Budu.

Speaking to Filasco DeGeneral today, Monday, December 27, 2021, Leader of the National Alliance for Nzema Development, Mr. Shadrack Quaicoe described the incident as a bizarre and a case that has to be dealt with seriously by the state.

He died on Sunday, December 26, 2021.

Mr. Quaicoe wants the culprits to be treated according to the supreme law of the state without mercy or pardon from any figure.

“Such cruel acts must never be condoned as it is tantamount to defeating the country’s fight against instant justice”, he stressed.

He said an official complain has been lodged at the Essiama Police Station by the youths in the community but the police are yet to make arrest.

Mr. Shadrack is therefore calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Ministry of lands and Natural resources, the Nzema Traditional Council, the Office of the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, the DCE for Ellembelle, Hon. Kwasi Bonzoh and the Minerals Commision to as a matter of urgency take steps to resolve the matter.
