Ten people lost their lives while 23 others were severely injured in a road accident that occured near Savelugu.
Police report has it that the kia Rhino truck carried 33 passengers. The driver of the kia however lost control as he attempted swerving a motorcycle and consequently somersaulted.
It is reported that the kia truck was returning from a funeral when the unfortunate incident occured.
“Six persons died on the spot, whilst 27 others others sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Savelugu Municipal Hospital for treatment”
“Seven (7) persons were referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for further treatment. However, four persons; zabaga Ahassan, aged 35, Iddrisu Issah, aged 40, Adam Iddrisu, aged 30, and Yakubu Tyro, aged 33 died while receiving treatment at Tamale Teaching Hospital.Total number of deaths recorded were ten(10).
However, the vehicle involved in the accident has been towed by police.
Police reported that the diver of the kia Rhino is receiving treatment at the Savelugu Municipal Hospital.
