Fourteen year old commits suicide over ¢10
A 14-year-old boy at Akyem Ewisa in the Eastern Region of Ghana had to resort to suicide after he reportedly failed to settle an amount of Ghc10.00 he borrowed from his grandmother’s friend.
The sister of the late 14-year-old speaking on Breaking News on Kessben FM, Accra said, the boy was living with his grandmother.
According to her narration, the boy went to his grandmother’s friend and informed her that his grandmother had asked him to borrow GHC10.00 from her to use some food.
After the sad incident that occurred on Saturday, the grandmother’s friend came to her friend’s house and divulged what had happened earlier.
Meanwhile, the grandmother denied ever sending his grandson to borrow any money from her friend.
Eyewitnesses say the boy used his sponge as a rope to hang himself near a school playground.
