Tension in Kwabre East as youth groups clash at Mamponteng, two butchered
There is growing tension in Mamponteng, a town in Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region as angry youth groups clash.
A resident, speaking in anonymity with Filasco DeGeneral today, December 28,2021, at about 5:40pm said, at least two boys were butchered yesterday evening in the area following a clash between two groups suspected to be from a different communities in Mamponteng.
According to him, a group of young men armed with locally machete called ‘langa’ and other deadly weapons stormed the community and attacked their opponent, butchering two.
They were rushed to the Peace Faith Hospital at Mamponteng for treatment. One has been discharged but the other one is still on admission due to the extent of his injuries.
As at the time of filing this report, three police patrol vehicles have been stationed in the Mamponteng Community to maintain calm as some youth are roaming in the community armed and ready to attack their opponent.
Meanwhile, the assembly member of the area has made urgent announcement urging his people to remain indoors to protecting themselves from any harm.
However, the residents are now leaving in fear and calling for military partnership with the police in the town now.
