Oti Region: Banda Chief appeals for Military base and Police station
The chief of Banda, a suburb in the Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region, Nana Akwasi Omankuminte (ii) has made passionate appeal to government through the Interior and the Defence Ministry to provide them with a military camp at Kpandai and a police station at Kumdi to curb insecurity.
Nana said this at their maiden edition of the Tekpang Djunduai Festival at Krachi Nchumuru District and urged their District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kpandai, Hon. Atta Kofi Emmanuel Tatabilata as the Head of DISEC to push for them the establishment of the military base and police station.
The Celebration of the Tekpang Djunduai Festival is celebrated by the Chiefs and the people Banda Tekpang Traditional Area and was graced by many dignitaries inside and outside the region.
The communities under the Tekpang stool includes; Banda, Banda Katekpai in the Kracchi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region, Kumdi and Bankanba also in Kpandai District of the Northern Region.
The Tekpang people were very brave warriors and fought so many wars including the Par (gyakyane).
The significance of the festival cannot be over emphasized without its religious, political, Social, Cultural, Historical and Economic gains.
Capitalising on the occasion, he appealed to the Oti Regional Minister to laiase with the government via MoE and GES to construct at least a Senior High School in the area as there are Six Junior High Schools but lacks second cycle school hence they need one.
However, Nana Akwasi applauded the President for massive road constructions in the area saying major road networks in the area have been upgraded by the Nana Addo’s government.
He also praised the government over his flagship programs such as 1D1F, 1V1D, PFJ and many more which according to the Chief have helped a lot.
Asking for more, he called on the Regional Minister to help solve the water scarcity issue in the district.
